A Peaceful Process
A Peaceful Process
>> Event Postponed! New date to be announced. <<
This event promotes the peaceful process of recording family stories. Recorded memories area legacy for future generations with both personal and family historical significance. The process, however, is the most important factor. Reflecting on family stories brings an inner peace. Certainly, recalling the good times is a joy but even describing the bad times is a reminder of the strength, support, and ingenuity it took to survive. That is why when family members work together to write or tape record or video graph or scrapbook their recollections the process becomes even more precious than the product.
An intergenerational effort is especially fun. For instance, workshop leader Angela Rochon plans to share her family’s little book which she wrote and all of her grandchildren illustrated. She hopes that participants at this event will share their own precious creations of books, photo journals, scrapbooks, DVD’s etc.
People can record their stories at any time in life. Angela will bring sample guides to this SNV event. There are many ways to collect precious memories. The Algonac Historical society video graphed long time citizens. The results of their efforts is a wealth of local history.
In the Season for nonviolence there is peace in remembering.
